A day at the parc.

One of the features we plan to start having on our blog is quick posts about various aspects of life in Montreal and Canada that we enjoy.

The first installment is a look at the parks of Montreal (parc in French).

Mark this date…

So…Jen and I aren’t the most punctual when it comes to blogging.  But we WANT to be.  We really, really do!  So we’re setting up a backup plan in case of our inevitable negligence.  Starting this weekend, there will be regular automated posts made AT LEAST twice a week on Sundays and Thursdays.  And if we get ambitious or have an important post to get out there, we’ll have extras.

So check back often!

I am Canadian.

My friend Fabio at work passed along this great video of a Molson beer commercial.  It’s a MUST see, if you are looking to understand those crazy Canadians a little more.

There is a Quebec spoof on Youtube as well, but it’s not quite G-rated so we’ll leave it up to the curious to find it themselves.

Happy Friday!

BIXI or bust.

This week, Montreal launched there BIXI bike sharing program.  For $78 dollars, you can get a yearly pass that will eventually give you access to a few thousand bikes all over the island.  With the pass, you can pick up any bike, ride it anywhere for 30 minutes free of charge, after that, there is a dollar or so fee for each additional hour.

More on our green weekend…

Since Jon already posted lots of photos from this weekend, and it would take quite a while to describe each store and location we visited along the way, I thought I’d post some links to the stores we hit, as well a map that I made for us to use so we’d know where we wanted to go. It’s made on Google Maps, so feel free to use it if you’re in Montreal!

I also wanted to point out the awesome and quirky zipper earrings I bought during our “green weekend”. You can find a picture of me wearing them in the slideshow linked in Jon’s previous post. My earrings are yellow, as seen in the picture I just mentioned, but I thought I’d post a picture of similar earrings as well:

Most of the links we used to plan our eco weekend are here on my delicious links, but I’ve also put some links to a few of the stores, designers, and/or clothing lines we checked out this weekend as well.

Other green stores worth checking out in Montreal (some we’ve hit before, some we still need to visit):

A great list of places to find retailers and restaurants (and everything in between) who offer fair trade products can be found here, complete with a key of what fair trade products they offer. To learn more about what fair trade is, click here.

Thank Goodness It’s Friday!

Beth passed on a link to photos she and Enzo took during their visit to Montreal, and the photos included this great shot of Jon and I, so I thought I’d post it on the blog! I’ll post some more photos later.
