As promised, long ago, we are finally ready to share our recent photo journey through Old Montreal and Griffintown. Old Montreal, as everyone should know by now, is the original downtown of Montreal. It is full of beautiful architecture and narrow European streets bursting at the seems with cafés, boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants.
Also attached to this area is the Old Port, which is a series of docks basically that have been transformed into new modern day uses.
The real discovery of this photo journey was Griffintown and Cite du Multimedia, which is a small, dense neighborhood adjacent to Old Montreal. This area was once an abandoned industrial district, that has recently seen a resurgence as the technology hub of Montreal. It is often referred to as the Silicon Valley of Quebec. The character in this area is incredible! Everywhere you look are old factories and warehouses full of rustic old character. The redevelopments are half tech companies, half art galleries with a good helping of high-end condos and lofts thrown in for good measure. There is a great “art bar” that I am hoping to take Jen to in the near future called Cluny’s. You can probably spot the pictures of the outside of it in the photo gallery. The image above is of Cluny’s as well.
