Mark this date…

So…Jen and I aren’t the most punctual when it comes to blogging.  But we WANT to be.  We really, really do!  So we’re setting up a backup plan in case of our inevitable negligence.  Starting this weekend, there will be regular automated posts made AT LEAST twice a week on Sundays and Thursdays.  And if we get ambitious or have an important post to get out there, we’ll have extras.

So check back often!

Our Apartment

Finally, here is a long-awaited blog entry, with long-awaited pictures of the apartment!

In the past month, Jon and I have gained worthwhile experience to open up our own bed and breakfast. Unfortunately, our guestroom still doubles as the living room/dining room/studio, and our air mattress won’t earn us a Zagat rating, I’m afraid. What am I talking about? Well, over the past month, we have received quite a few visitors! Our hectic schedule as well our procrastination have kept us from updating as we should.

My parents came first, and we had a wonderful time showing them around our beloved city. Next, Jon’s mom, sister Ashley, and their exchange student, Eline, came to visit. My sister, Beth, and her boyfriend, Enzo, were next, and we had a great time showing the five of them around town and discovering new places and restaurants ourselves with them. Lastly, Jonathan’s friend, Eve, and her friend, Brandon, came to visit, and they received the grand tour as well (that Jon and I are getting quite good at, I think). We loved having everyone come visit, and truly appreciated that they made the 12 hour trip to come see us. It was awesome getting to play show-and-tell and share with them what we fell in love with about Montreal in the first place.

Enjoy a photo tour of our apartment, and keep an eye out for our next blog entry, which will include a photo journey through an exciting new area of Montreal that Jonathan and I discovered last weekend!

Still here…

Jon and I  have been busy and apologize for the lack of entries as of late! I got a new job as a project coordinator for a small design company, and Jon’s been busy with work as well. More details to follow soon, along with entries detailing our adventures last weekend in Petit Petrie and this weekend along Lachine Canal!

Jen + Sewing Machine = Fun Purse

I’ve made my first creation with my HuskyStar sewing machine, a Christmas gift that I have longed to use (even stockpiled fabric and patterns since before I received the sewing machine) but have never actually gotten around to using it. That doesn’t matter now because the HuskyStar and I are now well-acquainted!

Thrifting in Montreal!

Many apologies for the delay in post. I promised Pam a couple days ago that I would start posting everyday, but have vastly failed to keep that promise! I will try harder.

On with the post! Next week, I will take photos on my way to meet Jon for lunch–I’ve been walking to his work to meet him for lunch everyday–so that you all can see more of Montreal through our eyes! Not only do I get to spend lunch with him, I also get the exercise he gets walking 1 mile to work and 1 mile back, which I definitely like (and need!). Some photos to whet your appetite, taken with my new cell phone in Montreal (email me if you want the number):

One of my favorite details of the building is the faces on the columns. This photo was taken in the archway over the entrance, which can be seen just above the first yellow cab on the left.

Jon wins 1st prize!

BONJOUR, MES AMIS!

(Hello, my friends!)

I have wonderful news! Jon won 1st prize (not the Grand Prize, but still wonderful!) at the Bombay Sapphire Glass Competition! Read more about it at the website here. Be sure to enter the country as “United States”, not “Canada”. The contest has notified the press in Columbus about Jonathan’s win, so keep an eye and an ear out!

Getting settled

Many apologies for the delay in the post! We’ve been getting settled, and are about 80% finished with moving in. We’ve taken progress photos, one of which is posted in Jon’s entry, but I figured it’d be good to show everyone photos of the apartment we’ve posted photos of the apartment before we moved in. So, without further ado, here they are!

Bon Voyage!

Tonight a big group from Chute Gerdeman took Jen and I out to Plank’s in German Village for going away drinks, and it was really a great night! We’re both glad so many people could come out and celebrate the start of a new chapter in our lives. Continue reading

…well, we’re getting there…

Well today was a choatic day. Much progress was made though. Jen’s mom graciously offered her time to help pack the kitchen and I focused on our scary basement. Jen did a lot of organizing and packing in various rooms. Continue reading
